On 09/17/2009 this directive was put out from Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn of The Bureau of Indian Education in Washington D.C. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT BIE STAFF ARE NOT TO RESPOND TO ANY PRESS OR MEDIA INQUIRIES MADE TO YOUR OFFICES. Stephanie E. Birdwell Bureau of Indian Education Deputy Director Policy, Evaluation & Post Secondary Education 1849 C St. NW MIB MS-3618 Washington, D.C. (202) 208-4397 (desk).
Today Dan Wildcat made this statement to the media: “There’s a big meeting that’s looking at budget issues right now,” said Dan Wildcat, Haskell’s acting vice president for academic affairs. Wildcat said that he, too, was unaware of calls for an investigation into the leadership of Haskell. “We’re just getting ready to wrap up this semester,” he said.
Apparently the directive was only for some B.I.E. employees but not all of them. We are as confused as Dan Wildcat is over which employees the gag order is meant for since Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn did not name them one by one and apparently Dan Wildcat need’s the type of leadership who specially spells things out for him. A congenial hand-holder is needed for Dan Wildcat.
For a minute we thought that Dan Wildcat had become the new Nedra Darling (he has so FLAGRANTLY disobeyed the directive) but a quick check assured us that Nedra is holding her own as spokesperson for the B.I.E. Sorry Dan.
So what is next? Dan Wildcat HAS disobeyed the directive.
It will be interesting to see what Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn does next. According to B.I.E’s own policy Dan Wildcat should be terminated.
A lot of us think he should have been terminated anyway for canceling those two BA programs and running all over the country pretending to be someone he is not .
And by the way Dan Wildcat if you have any information on where Native American Children are buried on or near Haskell Indian Nations University you should probably be coughing that information up to the proper authorities.
Someone needs to be investigating Dan Wildcat and Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn along with him….. Hello Larry Echohawk.
