Haskell Indian Nations University Acting President Venida Chenault say’s no to Haskell’s Student Senate President attending this years AHIEC conference.

Well enough is about enough as far as how Venida Chenault is treating Haskell Indian Nations University Student Senate President, Janice Mendez this year.

First of all Venida takes away the student senate building, then their funding and now she is refusing to let the student senate president Janice Mendez attend this years American Indian Higher Education Consortium, 2010 Winter Meeting in Washington D.C.

Instead the vice president of student senate is on the agenda to go.

Come on as we said before there must be someone with enough power out there to help the student senate president.

If there is please step forward, you can find her most days on The Haskell campus (just ask around) or try her office in Stidham ( so far Venida Chenault hasn’t taken that yet..)

The AHIEC conference is scheduled for Feb 8 -11th so there is still time for Haskell’s student senate president to go and the vice president to stay in Lawrence.

Come on people someone step forward with a ticket and expense money for her, or at least make sure Haskell is taking her, they should be by all rights and like we just said the vice president by all rights needs to stay in Lawrence.

Venida Chenault you should be ashamed treating The Haskell student senate president this way..just because you don’t want her in this position!

If you see her on campus give her your support, she needs it !

Larry Echohawk, Stephanie Birdwell are you reading this????

I was at the last student senate meeting. All the the sudden here comes Venida Chenault
( who was not on the agenda) taking over the floor and just on a rant that made no sense at all, someone should get hold of those minutes and post them. She is awful. I cannot believe she is in charge of her dog!!!!!!

Janice Mendez is just a student doing the best she can. Venida Chenault needs and go and take her gang of anti -United States people with her. Someone start a petition please to have her removed !

Umm, I guess the obvious question would be,
How does the student senate feel about this? Was this put up for senate vote or did VC just up and make that decision?

Like the decolonization issue, can you provide more information about this one? Can the Haskell pseudo president interfere with a senate meeting? Who is the student senate vp? Why is that person going and the president of the senate not going? How did that happen? Are there bylaws?

You keep asking if the BIE people are reading this or that entry. Probably. But their lack of action tells us all something. Got an attorney? because it sure looks like there are people at Haskell who need one.

I think the lack of action is that the bia, bie, Larry Echohawk, Kevin Skenadore and Stephanie Birdwell-Bighorn know they have made some major errors and amazingly stlll have not provided Senator Roberts office with answers to the many questions and issues raised. This blog is read by a lot of people concerned about Haskell especially BIE and Haskell staff. The staff say they learn more from these blogs than they do from being there on the job. I hope the acting isn’t really that power hungry and using her micromanaging skills on students and their own organization. But then again, she really doesn’t have that much experience running any program does she or a community college for that matter? And if she did invade the student senate meeting I hope students post their meeting notes for public view.

I must say that after reading several rants by haskellnews, I may have to agree that their teaching methods should be investigated. If haskellnews got her/his writing skills from Haskell, then she/he didn’t get a very good education.

His/Her arguments are illogical and lack any details or real evidence. Just nasty rumors. But maybe she/he is just part of the moronic internet trend that turns opinions into facts.

Well put “tomatogrower” it’s very easy to spread unfounded rumors under an anonymous blog post. If the credentials of the blogger were found, it would be very apparent that they should probably watch their tongues criticizing Phd’s while they probably don’t have an undergraduate degree. Not to mention it’s alway the same bandwagon commenters in support of haskellnews, with the occasional voice of reason peppered in with a bunch of garbage. It just makes me sick that a few individuals (most likely two) can post on ljworld.com under the moniker of “haskellnews” while in reality they hold no affiliation with the actual Haskell News.
This also leaves aside the real issue of this article. Where is the FOIA on student senate, it seems there was an inordinate amount of money withdrawn from S.S. account for a couple of last year’s functions by student senate president Janice Mendez, there was a pow-wow that stands out in my mind. Perhaps a FOIA request should be made regarding Janice Mendez’s receipts etc?

    Yeah! Give Janice Mendez support!

Especially since I just approached her about possibly waiving the fee for booth space for the cheyenne river sioux disaster relief so that we can raise funds and she said “That’ll be $50”

She was quite reluctant to mention that a student purchasing the booth would be $25.

So yeah. Support Janice Mendez. She deserves it.

    sarcasm much?!?

And another thing, Janice Mendez would be the last person in the universe that I would want to represent Haskell in any way shape or form. Quote me.

Hmmm, so we have Erck85 lecturing people on unfounded rumors under an anonymous blog posting and then in closing they do the very same thing in making the accusation that an “inordinate amount of money withdrawn from S.S. account for a couple of last year’s functions by student senate president Janice Mendez,” and asking for a FOIA request. If you want a FOIA request done, then do it yourself.

The next brilliant comment is from Rainydaze49 who says quote me while posting as anonymous.,, So just because you are doing a fund raiser you feel entitled to have the fee waived. Well guess what. the Red Cross still has expenses and has to pay for their bills. So both of you combined can only come up with the fact that Janice Mendez made a “relief fund” pay full price for a booth, and student senate spent more than the first writer thought they should. And in your minds that justifies taking the duly elected representative fo the students and removing them from attending and denying them their rights as an organization.

You should be proud to call yourself Americans…

    (yeah, that was sarcasm)

I want to know why Janice Mendez is not allowed to go to AHIEC? The student senate president goes every year. She should get an attorney.
